What Elephant Adoption from the UK Actually Means

Symbolic elephant adoption expresses support for elephant welfare through a donation. It does not buy an animal, a sanctuary place or a visit. The elephant shown is a species photograph taken in Nepal; it does not document WARN-funded activity in the appeal’s focus countries.

Asian elephants and African elephants have different distributions and conservation contexts. This gift links to WARN’s Asian elephant appeal for Indonesia and Malaysia. Read that scope before donating rather than assuming the gift can be spent in every elephant range country.

Why Adoption Is Not Individual Animal Ownership

Wild elephants are not pets with names on certificates for donors. Ethical programmes minimise unnecessary human contact. Your adoption supports the whole programme: patrols, veterinary care and coexistence tools.
