Street dogs on a Karachi roadside, where WARN-funded partners run catch-neuter-vaccinate-return camps

Sponsor a Street Dog

From £5 a month. Your sponsorship funds humane catch-neuter-vaccinate-return camps run by vetted partner vets — the evidence-based alternative to culling.

In brief

Sponsoring a street dog with WARN costs from £5 a month and funds CNVR — catch, neuter, vaccinate, return — run by vetted partner vets in Karachi, Pakistan. Sponsorship is pooled across the whole programme rather than tied to one dog, so your gift reaches whichever animal needs it most. You can cancel any time.

What your sponsorship pays for

Every figure below is what a gift funds the equivalent of, at WARN's actual programme costs in Karachi. Costs in the field move with security, fuel and drug supply, so we quote conservatively and round down.

What a monthly street dog sponsorship funds (2026)
Monthly gift Funds the equivalent of
£5/month the equivalent of a rabies vaccination for 1 street dog, every month
£12/month the equivalent of rabies vaccination for 3 street dogs, every month
£30/month the equivalent of one full catch-neuter-vaccinate-return surgery every 3 months

How CNVR works

CNVR means catch, neuter, vaccinate, return. Dogs are caught humanely, neutered and vaccinated against rabies by a qualified vet, marked so they are not caught twice, and returned to the exact place they came from.

Returning them matters: a neutered, vaccinated dog holds its territory and keeps un-neutered dogs out. Culling empties that territory and new dogs move in, which is why the World Health Organization is clear that culling does not control populations or rabies. Read more in what is CNVR and why dog culling does not work.

Inside a Karachi CNVR camp

A camp day starts before the heat does. Partner teams work the same few streets they have mapped for weeks, because the dogs there are known — which ones are pregnant, which are limping, which have already been ear-notched from a previous round.

Each dog caught is checked, sedated, neutered and vaccinated by a vet, then moved to a shaded recovery area and watched until it is steady on its feet. The ear notch goes in before it wakes. By evening every dog goes back to the street it was lifted from, and the map gets updated.

That repetition is the whole point. One camp does not fix a city; a programme that returns to the same streets, round after round, is what shifts the population and stops rabies spreading. Monthly sponsorship is what makes returning possible.

Sponsoring a street dog: FAQs

How much does it cost to sponsor a street dog?
From £5 a month. £5 funds the equivalent of a rabies vaccination for 1 street dog each month, £12 covers 3 dogs a month, and £30 funds the equivalent of a full CNVR surgery every 3 months.
Do I get my own dog to sponsor?
No — and we would rather say so plainly. Your sponsorship is pooled across WARN's whole Karachi street-dog programme, so it funds whichever dog needs help most on the day, not one named animal. Pooling is what lets partners run a full camp rather than treat one dog at a time.
What do sponsors receive?
Everything is digital, so more of your gift reaches the dogs: an adoption-style e-certificate straight after checkout, a welcome email with the programme fact file, three programme updates a year, and an annual impact report. WARN does not post physical packs — the postage and printing would come out of the programme.
Is sponsoring a street dog tax-deductible?
WARN is a registered UK Community Interest Company (Company no. 17298990) and is not a charity, so it cannot claim Gift Aid. The donation case is transparent partner-led welfare where support reaches practical field needs. Sponsorship is not Gift Aid eligible and is not US tax-deductible. Every pound still funds the rescue programme.
Can I cancel my sponsorship?
Yes, at any time and with no minimum term — from your receipt email or by emailing info@worldanimalrescuenetwork.org. Monthly income is what lets partners plan repeat vaccination rounds, but it is never a lock-in.
Why Karachi?
Karachi has one of the largest street-dog populations in the world and a recurring history of culling campaigns. CNVR is the humane, evidence-based alternative: the World Health Organization is clear that culling does not reduce dog populations or rabies, and vaccinate-and-neuter programmes do.
